Title:                            Shuttle Driver              


Reports To:                     Customer Service & Transportation Manager 


Overall Focus:             Executes daily and weekly workload plans to accomplish established tasks provided by warehouse Shift Supervisors and or other warehouse management. Shuttles products and materials between warehouse facilities adhering to all food safety and personal safety standards while remaining in compliance to all DOT standards and responsibilities

·        Supports the production lines by hauling freight to designated warehouses while shuttling safely, efficiently, and damage free without negatively impacting the production thru-put process (communicating all quality issues back to supervisor and/or production personnel).

    • Perform a pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection on all equipment each shift. Complete Drivers Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) Book turn in to shift supervisor. Communicate all maintenance needs to truck garage mechanics and shift supervisor, as directed
    • Maintain mileage and fuel usage in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Comply with CSA2010 and all DOT regulations.                                      
    • Keep all shuttle trailers clean during each shift to comply with food safety standards.
    • Utilize off duty shuttle time to benefit warehouse process (i.e. moving trailers, sanitation, loading / unloading trucks).
    • Unload shuttle freight and properly rotate stock for FIFO practices
    • Make up all partial pallets to support FIFO practice.
    • Respectfully operate equipment to keep our neighbors happy (i.e. jake brakes)
    • Clean up after yourself at end of shift and mange fluid levels for the next operator.  
    • Strive to achieve team productivity measurements while maintaining a high level of focus to quality and safety.
    • Keep work zones in an audit ready manner
    • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned including  operation of fork lift and yard jockey,
  • Represents Ainsworth to our customers and vendors
  • Ensures that the Ainsworth Food Safety program is adhered to
    • Ensure that all SOP’s are being followed
    • Inform Warehouse manager of any food safety problems
    • Alert Warehouse Manager for need to update or modify SOP’s based on needed changes to the processes
    • Work with SQF program
    • All Staff shall be informed of their responsibility to report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures  and job instructions
    • Take corrective actions when measures are out of specification
    • Take and document required process, quality measures
    • Meet or exceed established targets
  • Adhere to all sanitation procedures
    • Follow all GMP’s
    • Keep process areas clean and neat
    • Ensure all  equipment meet sanitation requirements
    • Adheres to sanitation  procedures for warehousing
    • Reports all infestation and rodent problems to the Food Safety Manager
  • Actively participate as a member of the Ainsworth Safety Program
    • Follow all safety procedures

o   Report of safety issues of all warehouses (i.e. dock bumpers, parking lot conditions, jack stands, wheel chocks, landing gear, blocking).

Education/Training:    High School Diploma or GED


Certifications/Licenses: CDL-A, Fork lift operator’s license, pass Ainsworth annual performance/qualification drivers review.

§  CDL- A Driver’s License

§  Operation of a forklift, which requires on and off mounting of the equipment thru out the day and the ability to operate the controls in a fast paced environment

§  Operation of the yard truck. Will be required to be in and out of the truck on each move  to open and close the doors of the trailer

·        Know product specifications and packaging

·        Know how to access and read the production schedule

·        Understand the production process flow and how the warehousing processes can impact that flow

·        Good multi tasking skills

·        Knowledge of products and processes

·        Knowledge of customer requirements, loading practices and procedures, pallet patterns, code dates and rotation policy

·        Knowledge of quality and in specification products and ability to bring in subject matter expert when needed and ability to execute product on hold

·        Ability to access shipping schedule and execute loading of freight and to prioritize workload to accomplish daily throughputs
